If this sounds like you

You've done the training. The fuelling is what keeps letting you down.

Gel three turns your stomachYou start fine, then somewhere past 18km the sweetness stops going down and you spend the back half managing your gut instead of your pace.
You hit a wall you can't push throughLegs are there, engine isn't. You went out on feel, under-fuelled early, and paid for it in the last 10km.
You're chasing water at every aid stationSalt tablets in one pocket, gels in another, still cramping in the heat and still guessing at what you actually need.
You've tried the big brands alreadyDifferent tub, same maltodextrin, same result. You're not looking for another flavour, you're looking for something that sits right.

Those are the four things our customers wrote about most in their reviews. All four are fuelling problems, not fitness problems.

The difference

Why it doesn't wreck your stomach

Most endurance drinks are built on maltodextrin because it's cheap. It's also the reason so many people cramp, bloat and blow up late in a race.

Why this exists

I collapsed at the Cairns Marathon in 2023. Pulse came out of that.

Alex Forbes racing

I had run 1:27 for the half four weeks earlier and I went to Cairns chasing 1:24. I did not fuel it properly and I did not hydrate it properly, and I did not finish it. I came off the course dehydrated and under-fuelled in front of my family.

What I found afterwards was that the fuelling knowledge was hard to come by, and the products you could actually buy in Australia were worse. Cheap carbs chosen on price, vague labels, proprietary blends that tell you nothing about what you are putting in your body an hour before a race.

So I built the thing I needed that day. Properly dosed, every number printed on the tub, nothing hidden behind a blend name. I am not a supplement company that went looking for a marketing angle. I am a runner who got it badly wrong once and decided to stop guessing.

Alex Forbes, founder. Melbourne 2:58 in 2024, Gold Coast 2:49 in 2025, Ironman 70.3 in 4:33. Racing Sunshine Coast 70.3 this month, on this.

What's actually in it

Four ingredients doing the work

20,900MG PER SERVE

Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin

A long-chain carbohydrate that clears the stomach quickly instead of sitting there. More expensive than maltodextrin by a distance. It's the single reason this formula costs what it does.

1,400MG PER SERVE

Himalayan Pink Salt

Delivering 525mg of sodium per serve, roughly double what a typical sports drink gives you. Sodium is what holds the fluid you're drinking where it's useful.

1,000MG PER SERVE

Beetroot Extract

Standardised to 50% betaine nitrate. Included at a dose you can actually read on the label, which is more than most brands will show you.

NATURALLY SWEETENED

Monk Fruit

No stevia aftertaste and no bloating. It is what lets the formula sit at 0.2g of sugars per serve without tasting like nothing, and it is why the sweetness holds up on the third bottle instead of turning cloying.

Built for Australian conditions

525mg of sodium, because you are not training in England.

Most endurance formulas are built around mild northern hemisphere racing and carry under 250mg of sodium a serve. Train through an Australian summer and you sweat that out inside the first half hour, which is why so many people end up carrying salt tablets on top of their drink mix and still cramping.

It has been great in my training runs, especially in our extremely hot and humid conditions, where I don't have to top up with any salt tablets.

Clean Sustainable Fuel

As someone who has always struggled to fuel pre race or training due to stomach upset, I have found pulse my absolute game changer. Its clean fuel with no nasties and extremely palatable. Not only is it helping me power through events and training, but it gives me sustained energy output through the day as well assisting with recovery. Living in Tropical north QLD salt loss and dyhdration becomes a massive stress on the body, Pulse has given the replenishment my body needs to keep kicking goals.

Endurance Fuel

Pulse Nutrition’s Endurance Fuel has been a game changer for me day-to-day. I’m not using it for intense workouts—just long workdays where energy and focus matter—and it really delivers. It mixes easily, tastes great without being overpowering, and gives a steady boost without any crash later on.

I’ve noticed I stay more hydrated and alert throughout the day, especially during physically demanding tasks. It’s become a regular part of my routine, and I genuinely feel the difference when I don’t have it. Highly recommend it to anyone needing consistent, reliable energy for work or everyday life.

Best pre run supplement on the market

I’ve tried all the major brands out there and I truly believe Pulse have nailed this formula. The subtle taste, easiness on the stomach and the sustained energy it provides really separates itself from others like it.

Have used this product on my last 2 races and loved it! First time I’ve felt fully sustained throughout. Pulse review

Pulse is such a great tasting endurance fuel that also provides adequate sodium for longer runs. It has been great in my training runs, especially in our extremely hot & humid conditions, where I don’t have to top up with any salt tablets. I am also very pleased that I have not had any gut issues at all, like I have had in the past with other products. I drink this also daily to keep hydrated prior to training sessions, so I am prepared and ready to get the best out of each session.

Everything you need to know

Got a question? We've got you.

Sick of gut issues mid-race?
Most endurance products use maltodextrin, a cheap carb source that causes bloating and GI distress at volume. We use Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin, which absorbs rapidly without spiking insulin or upsetting your gut. More expensive. Worth every cent.
How and when should I use it?
One scoop in 500 to 750ml of water. For most sessions take it 20 to 30 minutes before you start. For anything over about 90 minutes, sip it through the session rather than drinking it all at once. If you want a number for your actual race distance and pace, run it through our fuelling calculator and it will tell you what you need per hour.
Can't trust what's in your fuel?
Proprietary blends let brands hide how little of each ingredient is actually in the tub. Every Pulse product lists every ingredient and every dose, exactly as it is. No hiding, no BS.
How and when do I use it?
Before, during or after training to replenish carbohydrates and electrolytes. One 25g serve in 500 to 750ml of water. For sessions over an hour, most people run one to two serves per hour depending on body weight and intensity. The fuelling calculator on our site works it out for you.
How is this different from a supermarket sports drink?
Two things. The carb source is Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin rather than maltodextrin or sugar, and the sodium is 525mg a serve, roughly double what most sports drinks carry. It is built for people going long, not for casual thirst.
Will it taste like syrup?
No. It is sweetened with monk fruit and carries 0.2g of sugars per serve. The most common feedback we get is that it is drinkable at hour four, which is the only test that matters.
What if it doesn't agree with me?
Email us inside 30 days and we will refund you in full. You do not need to send anything back and it does not matter if the tub is open. That promise comes from Alex directly.
How many serves in a tub, and how long does it last?
25 serves per tub. For most people training four to five times a week that is roughly three to four weeks.
Can I use it with the Hydration Sticks?
Yes, and plenty of people do. Endurance Fuel carries the carbohydrate, the sticks are electrolytes only. A common setup is Endurance Fuel in the bottle during a session and a stick in water before and after.
Is it suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Check with your doctor or midwife first. The formula contains beetroot extract and we would rather you take advice specific to you than a general answer from us.
Where does it ship from and how long does it take?
We dispatch from Mossman in Far North Queensland. Most metro orders arrive in two to five business days with Australia Post. Free shipping over $130.
